Overheard in the wool shop

“Oooh it must be lovely working in a wool shop. I’d love to have a job where I got to sit around and knit all day.”
I’d love a job like that too. But I have to level with you – and I’m really sorry if this breaks the wool shop spell – we don’t get to sit around doing very much knitting at all whilst the shop is open. What we do get to do is spend a whole lot of time talking about knitting, and listening to what you all have to say about your knitting. Here are some of our favourites from the last week..
“He wants the Home Alone Sweater. No, not the one worn by the little boy. It’s this one here – the one that’s worn by one of the robbers that breaks into the little boy’s house. Have you got a pattern for that?“
“I’m going to make the Toucan. You can make the Pigeon. Mum! We’ve decided. Can you get the stuff so we can go home now.”
“I love it so much. There are a couple of mistakes.. wait, I’ll show you… I can’t find find them anymore.. oh never mind about that.. I just really love it. I still can’t believe I made it myself. My first scarf!”
“So if I’m knitting from the top down won’t the sweater be upside down the whole time? How does it work when it’s finished. Do you have to do a special thing to get it the right way up and try it on?”
“It’s really weird. When you’re knitting with the manchelopi, it just loosens everything up. It really does something to your mind.”
“Okay, so should I do the 3rd or the 4th size if I knit with this slightly thinner yarn? Wait! You’re not allowed to use the words, Swatch or Gauge in your answer.”
“Do you sell those little guard things – I don’t know the name – that fit onto the front of ice skates?”
“What if they want to confiscate my needles when Im going through security? Can I call you and you talk to the security guy to tell him that it’s just for my knitting?”
