Wool Kitchen 4ply sock is a superwash treated four stranded round and bouncy worsted spun 4ply 75% Blue Faced Leicester, 25% nylon sock weight yarn. It is smooth and soft enough for both adult and child garments and accessories, especially shawls and of course, socks.
Helen Reed, the dyer behind the yarn, brings a fascination with colours from her urban environment to her practice, whilst also drawing inspiration from constellations and cosmic explosions in the night sky. She approaches dyeing as a knitter, often reverse engineering her colourways from the fabric she’d like to knit up. Her signature ‘zip yarns’ made up of a solid plus a vibrant multicolour pop, are perfectly suited to knitting and crocheting using assigned pooling techniques.
Wool Kitchen yarns are dyed up the road in Helen’s garden shed dyeing studio in Walthamstow and we’re thrilled to have had them as part of the Wild and Woolly range from the very beginning.
